Took off  from East Kirkby at 0031 hrs on 3rd December 1943 for operations in  Leipzig. Crashed at Volgfelde, south of the railway line between  Gardelegen and Stendal - sopme 4km NE of Uchtspringe.

George Leggot attended Brigg Grammar School (Now 'Sir John Nelthorpe School') Brigg, Lincs. Living in Scunthorpe he would have been a boarder. The school magazine for Easter 1944 lists the following obituary 

”All who knew George Leggott felt the warm geniality of his cheerful nature expressed in a merry countenance. A loyal member of the School, he entered the R.A.F. as an Aircraft Apprentice in 1937.” (courtesy of David Waite)
